Our Curriculum and Philosophy

Our unique curriculum has been developed by certified language teachers and researchers, with the following philosophy:

  • Develop functional proficiency in a language other than English
  • Emphasize speaking and comprehension
  • Enhance reading abilities in both English and the target language
  • Increase overall cognitive skills
  • Promote and cultivate awareness and appreciation of multilingual cultures in New York City and the World
  • Meet district, state, and national language-learning standards

Our curriculum incorporates content to fit into the New York State Standards as they are implemented in each school’s particular community and corresponding grade levels, so that the content students must master is familiar and reinforced. It leverages classroom activities so that the students’ use of a language is a vehicle to accomplish a goal, rather than an end in itself. Our teachers support proficiency development with games, songs, and creative activities that bring each student to the next level of proficiency no matter what his or her starting level.

Through Global Language Project, students will develop global proficiency in languages, which they can use to open more life options for themselves across the world.
