After-school Language Program Site Coordinator

Global Language Project (GLP) is an innovative educational movement that equips disadvantaged public school students in New York City to compete in a globalized world and workforce. Through GLP's comprehensive six-year language training program elementary school students will achieve fluency in a language other than English. The curriculum emphasizes traditional and experiential learning and was created by leading education professionals. In the process of transforming individual lives, GLP also advocates educational equality in language study in underserved schools.
Job Description:
The After-school Language Program Site coordinator is responsible overall management and supervision of the site including supervising and training staff.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for program development, planning and supervision in accordance with Global Language Project and partner standards.
- Responsible for keeping site and program in compliance with State Licensing Regulations; correcting any deficiencies in the required manner, forwarding all inspection notices to supervisor.
- Responsible for supervision of staff and children in the program and administration of records and curriculum planning and implementation.
- Responsible for accurate counts on all children that attend as well as following up with absent children.
- Conducts in a range of activities that promote family involvement, membership by design, and relationship by design.
- Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other Global Language Project functions as required by Supervisor.
- Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist with event planning and coordination.
- Represent GLP at Industry related functions and meetings.
- Work collaboratively with staff to achieve organizational goals.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- B.A in Education, English, Linguistics or a related field plus one year in job experience, or four years of working experience within the K-12 environment.
- High level of diplomacy, good judgment, attention to detail, and professional demeanor.
- Superior writing and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and successfully multi-task in a fast-paced, fluctuating environment.
- Strong management and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and also effectively on a team.
- Current CPR and 1st Aid Certification within 3 months of employment.
- Previous experience supervision of staff preferred.
- Native- or near native- level abilities in spoken and written English and Spanish
